This extremely soft stainless steel material is, according to Zeck, the best steel leader he has ever held in his hands. It combines all the qualities you could want in a pike-proof leader. In addition to its dark, low-reflective color, the 7×7 steel holds the strands together incredibly well when you cut it, even without preheating. Because it hardly frays at all, it’s very easy to crimp or tie knots in.
